NISSAN'S ALTIMA AND QUEST LAUNCH FULL SPEED AHEAD WITH STRONG SEPTEMBER SALES

NISSAN'S ALTIMA AND QUEST LAUNCH FULL SPEED AHEAD
 WITH STRONG SEPTEMBER SALES
CARSON, Calif., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Nissan's newest and strongest entry in the mid-size sedan category -- the Nissan Altima -- is off to a running start in its first full month sales, posting September sales of 3,890 units and exceeding the company's initial sales expectations.
The new Nissan Quest minivan also posted strong sales in September with 1,358 units, nearly tripling last month's sales figures.
"Nissan's Altima and Quest were designed and developed specifically to meet the needs of today's consumers who are looking for quality, value and performance in one package," said Earl J. Hesterberg, vice president, general manager, Nissan Division. "The strong sales of both these vehicles illustrates that even the most demanding buyers are finding what they are looking for in the Altima and Quest."
Not only are consumers pleased with what they see in Nissan's new vehicles, but the Altima and Quest are generating excitement at the dealership level, as well.
"Nissan has hit a home run with the new Nissan Altima," said Steve Kiley, sales manager for Flemington Nissan in Central New Jersey. "The styling is fabulous, the engine is superb, and the fit and finish communicate the quality of a vehicle priced much higher than the Altima. And the Quest is everything consumers could ever want in a minivan."
Said Nissan's Hesterberg: "As the marketing support for the new Altima and Quest unfolds, we anticipate these models will continue their sales strength, as well as stimulate dealership traffic and attention to all Nissan vehicles."
NX Coupe Posts Best Sales Month Ever
In addition to sales increases for new models, the company also saw increased sales for existing models. The NX coupe posted its best sales month ever in September 1992, with 1,417 units -- up 180 percent from last month, and an increase of 42 percent over September 1991 figures.
The Maxima, at 8,757 units, experienced its best sales month since January 1992, while Pathfinder, with sales of 3,998 units, posted its best showing in 14 months.
Nissan's total vehicles sales for September 1992 were 50,723, led by car sales of 33,367. Total truck sales were 17,356.
