There was a time when downtown Los Angeles Downtown Los Angeles is the central business district of Los Angeles, California, located close to the geographic center of the metropolitan area. The sprawling, multi-centered megacity is such that its downtown core is often considered just another district like Hollywood or  was a veritable no man's land for nightlife, when the city cleared out at work day's end. Not anymore. Whether it's high-rise views or orchestra pews, there's plenty of places to go after sundown. TRY THESE PERFECT DATE IDEAS FOR A MEMORABLE EVENING IN DOWNTOWN L.A.:

GO FOR A SPIN

>Where: The BonaVista Lounge at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel The Westin Bonaventure Hotel is the largest hotel in Los Angeles, California, USA. It is 367 feet (112 meters) tall and has 35 floors. Nothing quite compares to that childhood thrill of being whisked up a few dozen stories in a glass elevator. At the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, the home of L.A.'s only revolving cocktail lounge, the ride doesn't stop there. The BonaVista lounge (the setting for the '80s TV sitcom "It's a Living

DINNER IN THE SKY

Once you've had your fill of sky-high views and predinner cocktails, head upstairs and take a seat by the window at L.A. Prime, the Bonaventure's top-floor (nonrevolving) restaurant. It specializes in steaks (with an additionally impressive seafood menu), so you'd best be a carnivore carnivore (kär`nəvôr'), term commonly applied to any animal whose diet consists wholly or largely of animal matter. In animal systematics it refers to members of the mammalian order Carnivora (see Chordata). . For seasoned drinkers, the award-winning 500-label wine list should satisfy most connoisseurs.
