NIGHT OUT EVENTS AIM TO BRING NEIGHBORHOODS, POLICE TOGETHER.

Special events will be held tonight in observance of National Night Out, which focuses on uniting neighborhoods and working with law enforcement agencies A law enforcement agency (LEA) is a term used to describe any agency which enforces the law. This may be a local or state police, federal agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).  to reduce crime.

``It's a wonderful opportunity for communities nationwide to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie,'' said Matt A. Peskin, executive director of the National Association of Town Watch, a nonprofit organization Nonprofit Organization

An association that is given tax-free status. Donations to a non-profit organization are often tax deductible as well.

Notes:
Examples of non-profit organizations are charities, hospitals and schools.

``National Night Out does represent the kind of spirit, energy and determination that is helping to make many neighborhoods safer places throughout the year,'' he said.
