With Nigeria's proven reserves of natural gas estimated at more than 120 TCF See Trenton Computer Festival. , Chevron has proven 17 TCF of associated and free gases in its 2.2m acre areas

in the country. Chevron is leading a project to build a 960 km export pipeline to supply neighbouring Benin, Togo and Ghana with 4.2 MCM/day by 2002. Supplies would rise fivefold over the next 20 years. The pipeline would also involve gas being produced by Shell and others. A final decision on this $400m project is to be taken before end-1999.
