NICT to Conduct GMPLS Feasibility Test on US-Japan Conncetion.Tokyo, Japan, Sept 6, 2006 - (JCN) - The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT NICT National Incident Coordination Team (EPA) NICT New Information and Communication Technology/Technologies ) will conduct a feasibility test of Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS (Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching) In a WDM optical networking system, it is the ability to route a data transmission based on the wavelength of light that carries it. ) between the U.S. and Japan in the Global Lambda Integrated Facility (GLIF GLIF Global Lambda Integrated Facility GLIF GuideLine Interchange Format ) workshop during the international conference of all-light networks, sponsored by NICT from September 7-13. The feasibility test is a joint project between NICT, KDDI Corporation, and the U.S. based MCNC, a non-profit organization which runs NCREN NCREN North Carolina Research and Education Network . The GMPLS controlled light network will be connected from Otemachi city in Japan to Chicago between which optical cross connect equipments, OXC will be set up in the various cities.
