In addition to his role at NHS, he serves on the board of directors of the IBJ Foundation, the Bank's charitable foundation in the United State. The foundation has been a lead supporter of NHS' educational programs for more than ten years, providing funding for many of NHS' educational initiatives and annual grants for NHS' core education program, the NHS/IBJ Educational Seminar Series. "Now more than ever, given the tragic events of the past few months, we are committed to investing in and strengthening the quality of life in this city -- no matter who we are or where we come from, we have all united as New Yorkers," Noguchi said. "I believe in NHS' work and have seen first hand how much its efforts mean to the health of this wonderful city and to the happiness of so many individuals. We will continue to support NHS' important work in the future with enthusiasm and pride." Tanaka, who was commended with a memorial tribute at the dinner, was a member of the NHS advisory board from 1999 to 2001. He supported The Fuji Bank and Trust Company's grant to NHS for low-income housing, senior citizen education, and anti-predatory lending education. He was a tremendous believer in NHS' mission and often promoted NHS in public speeches to Japanese business executives. |
