NFCC receives grant from HSBC Finance Corporation.

The National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), Silver Spring Maryland, announced it has received a grant from Prospect Heights, Illinois-based HSBC Finance Corporation's card and retail services business to fund the Phase I development of a new NFCC National Counseling Locator Service (NCLS).

This new service will provide consumers and NFCC partners with a simple and secure platform to access all of the counseling and educational services offered by the full NFCC network of 113 member agencies, explained Susan C. Keating, president and chief executive officer of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling.

"We are grateful for HSBC's support of the NFCC's National Counseling Locator Service, which truly represents a commitment to helping consumers who are in need of quality counseling services," said Keating.

Each product and service delivered by an NCLS participating agency counselor will be in accordance with a standardized NFCC service delivery protocol for the specific service, and additionally will allow sufficient latitude to tailor the session to the unique needs of the client.

To meet the urgent crisis in the housing sector, the NFCC is initially launching the new platform for loss-mitigation and reverse-mortgage counseling services. The full complement of NFCC member services, including the mandatory bankruptcy pre-filing counseling and pre-discharge education, will be added in the next phases, said Keating.
