Poway Rodeo Chairman John Fitch and Rodeo Queen Pageant Director Darci Sheldon informed Moore in an October letter that she had to step down. The two-page letter informed Moore that a queen ``must display an unexcelled level of sportsmanship, moral and ethical behavior,'' referring to a previous discussion in July between pageant officials and Moore and her parents.

The letter listed five specific complaints, alleging that since Moore was crowned Poway Rodeo Queen in April she has:

Participated in the ``demoralizing de·mor·al·ize

In their letter, Fitch and Sheldon said Moore could retain her title until a new queen is named in April, but that she had 10 days to return the crown, chaps, clothing and other items the rodeo organization loaned her to use during her reign.

Moore had not complied with the request as of Thursday. Instead, her attorney, Mike Klarfeld, sent a letter to pageant officials, questioning whether the complaints against Moore were accurate and whether they warranted losing her crown.
