on why the Farrah Fawcett-Ryan O'Neal 15-year union fell apart runs the gamut from alleged hanky-panky to time ran out. One report says the 50-year-old bombshell flipped when she found a 30-year-old actress with Ryan at their Malibu home. When a Star reporter asked O'Neal about it, he reportedly said: ``I have no comment, but that's not a denial. I'm not denying it.'' A friend tells People magazine the split was only a matter of time because the two had a stormy relationship. They also had different ideas on rearing their son Redmond. Plus, although O'Neal proposed several times, Fawcett always turned him down. Her previous marriage was to the Six Million Dollar Man, Lee Majors. (In that union, the magazine says, her ``Charlie's Angels'' contract included the condition that she be home every night by 6:30 to make his dinner.) Some friends predict this is hardly the end. ``Oh, they'll be back together again,'' says photog pho·tog

The former star of ``Vega$'' and ``Spenser: For Hire'' lost his hair while battling cancer, and the producers of ``Vital Signs'' did not want to hide that. ``They said, `We want you as you are,' '' Urich said. ``I like that. It's a very honest approach.''

Idaho finally making spud

official veggie

Stick a fork in this legislation, it's done.

The Idaho House voted 54-15 on Thursday to make the Idaho potato the state's official vegetable.

The Senate is expected to follow suit, and the governor has said he will go along, buttering the way for the spud's rise.

``For 37 years, they have been number one,'' Rep. Maxine Bell said. ``This will let the world know we're very proud of this product.''

About 18 percent of Idaho's agriculture income comes from the potato. The state led the nation in potato production last year with 14 billion pounds.

Potatoes are already on the Idaho license plate and the state seal.
