California twins living large, loving life at 95

Twins Martha Talbot Taylor and Margaret Taylor White hit age 95 recently and celebrated by dressing in identical pink sweat shirts and marveling over their remarkable spryness.

They read the newspaper without glasses. They drive - Martha an eye-catching red '69 Mustang - and they carry their own luggage on their frequent vacations to exotic locales.

``There aren't many people who know what our ages are,'' said Margaret, who clearly remembers how upset she was when the Titanic went down. ``When they find out our age, they can't believe we have a driver's license Noun 1. driver's license - a license authorizing the bearer to drive a motor vehicle

The twins, whose friends know them as Pat and Peg, attribute their hardiness to good genes. They don't go around fretting about protein powders or amino acids. They say their happy dispositions keep them strong.

``We didn't go in for this body-building stuff that goes on,'' Martha said. But they had stamina enough for a lively five-hour birthday party.

Three years ago, Margaret's doctor told her to adopt a more heart-friendly diet: ``I can't eat red meat anymore. I was really mad about that at first.''

Martha lives in Costa Mesa Costa Mesa (kŏs`tə mā`sə), city (1990 pop. 96,357), Orange co., S Calif., on the Pacific south of Santa Ana; inc. 1953. They were born March 5, 1903, in Kansas City, Mo., to a dentist and a homemaker who made all their clothes and dressed them alike.

Margaret worked as a legal secretary, Martha as a medical secretary. Margaret married in 1941, gaining two stepchildren, and was widowed in 1982. Martha didn't marry, instead frolicking around the world and fashioning herself into an accomplished watercolor artist.

So what's next? They're planning another trip.

``I'd like to go back to Australia or New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland. ,'' Margaret said. ``And not on a tour. I'd just like to go and stay for weeks and see everything.''

Trio of pregnant sisters give birth on same day

When computer science teacher Ernie Carey asked his class for the probability that his two daughters would go into labor and give birth on the same day, students said there was almost no chance.

When the American Fork, Utah American Fork is a city in Utah County, Utah, USA, at the foot of Mount Timpanogos in the Wasatch Range, north of Utah Lake. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 21,941 and was estimated at 22,387 in 2004. It has been rapidly growing since the 1970s. , resident threw in the possibility that a third daughter might also deliver on the same day, they laughed.

So much for probabilities. Carey's daughters beat one-in-50 million odds Wednesday, giving birth to two boys and a girl.

``He threw up his hands and said, `No. 3 is in labor, class dismissed,' '' said Carey's wife, Lynn Carey.

The couple's oldest daughter, Karralee Morgan, 28, gave birth at 7:18 a.m. to her first child, Camaron Scott. A few hours later, sister Marrianne Asay, 27, also was admitted to American Fork Hospital. She gave birth to Dallin, her second child, at 3:25 p.m.

At 8:58 p.m., Jennifer Hone, 24, delivered Sera McKell, her second child, at Timpanogos Hospital in nearby Orem.

``We had joked about it, about us all being pregnant at the same time,'' Morgan said. ``We didn't really think it would happen like this.''

There's one more Carey sister, Noreen Macbean, who got married in January. She managed to attend all three deliveries and shoot video of each one.

The tight-knit family plans to be even tighter in the future.

``We've already got the first birthday party planned,'' Asay said. ``We celebrate everything together already. This will just add more fun.''

OVERHEARD

``People are getting more monogamous - that's my perception. But there's a reluctance to get married, maybe because it seems like you're not getting married to her; you're getting married to her lawyer.''
