Brown accused Hollywood Municipal Court Judge Dale S. Fischer of being biased against African-American men, citing her affiliation with a legal group he described as extremist.

At a brief hearing Tuesday, Fischer read a Dec. 8 order by Orange County Superior Court Judge Kazuharu Makino denying Brown's motion.

. Fischer ordered Brown to perform 400 hours of community service and enroll in a domestic violence counseling program.

Brown opposes a domestic violence sentence because he was convicted only of vandalizing his wife's car and was acquitted of making a terrorist threat against her. He was prosecuted on the latter charge even though Monique Brown recanted her accusation that he had threatened to snap her neck.

``I am not interested in any sentencing hearing at this point,'' Brown said Tuesday. ``What we are talking about is a car and some windows or we are talking about J.B. getting on his knees and doing a little cotton picking or a little dancing like a lot of folks.''

Cavern Club in Liverpool, England, that spawned Beatlemania rocked to the music of Sir Paul McCartney for the first time in almost four decades Tuesday.

Three hundred fans crammed into the subterranean club where McCartney and the Beatles last performed in 1963.

``Welcome to the Cavern. It's been a long time coming. It's great to be back,'' McCartney said after opening with the song ``Honey Hush.''

It was McCartney's 281st appearance at the venue, but the musical lineup wasn't based on classic hits. McCartney sang only one Beatles' tune ``I Saw Her Standing There'' during the 40-minute set.

Instead, McCartney and his band, including Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour and Ian Pace from Deep Purple, performed songs by Elvis Presley, Little Richard and Chuck Berry in addition to material from McCartney's new album ``Run Devil Run.''

McCartney also performed the Ricky Nelson song ``Lonesome lone·some

Town,'' which both he and his late wife, Linda, listened to in their teens.

``This is dedicated to loved ones past, present and future,'' he said, introducing the song.

As the evening wore on, McCartney noted that the music venue was not the same one he remembered from the '60s. The original Cavern Club was torn down in 1973, and rebuilt in the 1980s.
