NEWS LITE : GIFT THAT KEEPS GIVING; $1 MILLION DONATED FOR VIAGRA.

The sex - $1 million worth - is on Alan ``Ace'' Greenberg.

The head of the Wall Street investment firm Bear, Stearns and Co. is donating the pile of money to buy Viagra for poor men.

``I made the money and I'm going to give it away any way I want to,'' Greenberg said Wednesday. ``The public interest in Viagra says a lot about how many people have been suffering in silence.''

It's not the Kansas-born financier's first unusual donation. Several years ago, he gave the Israel Museum The Israel Museum (Hebrew: מוזיאון ישראל‎, Muzayon Yisrael) was founded in 1965 as Israel's national museum.  in Jerusalem money to renovate its bathrooms and had a plaque installed in one to honor his brother.

Greenberg's Viagra check is going to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City New York City: see New York, city.

. His wife, Kathy, is a board member. He said he decided to donate the money last week after reading that some insurance companies and state health programs are refusing to cover the impotence drug, which sells for $8 to $10 a pill.

``It's a matter of quality of life,'' said Greenberg, who earned a $20 million bonus last year. ``I asked my wife what she thought. She said, `You're usually nuts, but if you really want to do it, go ahead

' ''

Despite his philanthropic streak, Greenberg is known for pinching pennies at work. He cracks down on Bear, Stearns employees who take unauthorized cab rides and exhorts them to save paper clips.

The Viagra won't be available until the fall, after a committee of doctors works out a plan for dispensing the drug through urologists or centers for the elderly.

``Sexuality is an important and previously ignored part of aging,'' said John Ahearn, chief executive of the Hospital for Special Surgery. A million dollars will buy ``a lot of pills.''

Has the 70-year-old Wall Street executive taken Viagra himself? ``I'm not answering that,'' Greenberg said.

Travolta files lawsuit over use of name in ad

A $5 million lawsuit filed by John Travolta accuses two men of using his name without his permission to lure investors to their film companies, his attorney said Wednesday.

``I can tell you John Travolta never talked to them, never gave them any consent and there was never any oral agreement or written agreement,'' said Travolta attorney John Lavely Jr. ``They have no basis for using his name.''

The suit was filed Monday in Van Nuys Superior Court against George Jarvis III and David Nava, owners and partners of Silverado Films Inc. and its finance company Capital Funding Group Inc.

Jarvis could not be reached for comment. Nava denied in an interview that the companies committed fraud and said he had permission to use the name.

``It got his name out in a positive way and we didn't make any money out of this. We've been blackballed from Hollywood,'' said Nava.

The suit alleges that Jarvis and Nava ``knowingly and fraudulently'' published John Travolta's name in an advertisement that appeared in USA Today USA Today

on April 29. The ad offered the sale of a million shares of stock in the Silverado, which was named ``in association with John Travolta Productions.''

The London Times, noting the sacred rock mantra ``to die young and leave a beautiful corpse,'' said the Stones ``are more concerned with aging gracefully and leaving a well-preserved legacy. They intend to be neither out of time nor out of pocket.''

The Daily Mirror reported that the Stones pay as little as 4 cents in national tax for every $1.50 earned, adding that one of them made $25 million last year while paying but $600,000 in taxes. It added that two of them channeled cash through offshore accounts in the Dutch Antilles to avoid Britain's taxes. The paper estimated Mick Jagger's wealth at $210 million.
