NEWS LITE : FERGIE FIGHTS FAT DUCHESS OF YORK TAKES JOB AT WEIGHT WATCHERS.

A slimmer Sarah Ferguson, making light of her former media title as the ``Duchess of Pork,'' stepped forward Wednesday as the new spokeswoman for Weight Watchers in this country.

Her actual weight, mind you, is none of your business. Weight Watchers spokeswoman Mary Anne Bohrer said the Duchess of York Duchess of York is a title held by the wife of the Duke of York since the first Duke of York in 1384. The title is gained with matrimony alone and is forfeited on divorce.  stops short of revealing her actual weight.

She's in the 131- to 158-pound range Weight Watchers suggests for her height of 5-foot-7-1/2 - and hopes to lose five more pounds.

Ferguson, 37, ``wants to send the message that one's actual weight is one's personal business, and that it doesn't need to be disclosed to anyone. What's important is having a healthy weight,'' Bohrer said.

Romer identified the passenger as a ``really nice young man,'' Bruce Brannon of Thornton, Colo., and asked for a $50 loan. Brannon gave him $45.

The Democratic governor said he needed more money and decided to try it again. This time, he ``got a fellow, second from the rear seat, a really great guy, William Agster from Littleton.''

Romer told him the hard-luck story of leaving his wallet in his executive car and Agster said, ``Man, I got $60 for you.''

He arrived in Los Angeles, where he had to make a speech before heading on to Washington. Problem: He had no ID to claim the ticket he reserved.

So he pulled a copy of The Denver Post from his briefcase, which had front-page pictures showing him addressing the Legislature.

``See that? That's me. There, and there, there. My name's Romer. There. That's my ID.''

They looked him over carefully and gave him the ticket.

Romer depended on the kindness of strangers once more: He needed to make some calls on the flight, and had a ``really good seatmate'' from North Carolina North Carolina, state in the SE United States. An attorney for Garcia's widow, filmmaker Deborah Koons Garcia, and six other heirs said they would appeal.

They argued that Carolyn Garcia took advantage of her drug-fogged husband by manipulating him into signing the 1993 divorce agreement that gave her $250,000 a year - or $20,883 per month - for the next 20 years.
