, ran into pre-production budget snarls, Costner gave up his usual $20 million guaranteed salary in exchange for a cut of the first-dollar gross, Premiere magazine reported in its February edition.

Although details weren't reported, Costner's typical deal gives him 15 percent of the gross up to $100 million, from which point his percentage gradually increases; if a movie makes $175 million, Costner earns 22.5 percent, the magazine reported.

Citing internal production memos, the magazine also reported that the hidden costs of hiring Costner included $4,500 a week for a trainer-nutritionist, a $40-an-hour wardrobe assistant and $3,000 a week for a body double stand-in. While on location, each member of Costner's support team received an average of $100 per diem per diem adj. or n. Atheist's Bible fetches $2,000

The personal belongings of the nation's most prominent atheist went up for sale on Saturday in Pflugerville, Texas, bringing $10 for a penny with ``In God We Trust'' crossed out and $2,000 for a Bible.

The Internal Revenue Service seized Madalyn Murray O'Hair's belongings to pay back taxes and creditor fees after she disappeared in September 1995.

O'Hair helped knock organized prayer from public schools in a 1963 Supreme Court case and founded several atheist organizations.

The penny was no shock - she often crossed out words relating to God from her coins and bills - but the Bible surprised several people.

``There is some irony in that Bible,'' Austin lawyer Jimmy Nassour said. O'Hair received it from a group of Oklahoma schoolgirls in 1968. ``I was willing to go up to $500, but I got caught up in the moment.''

Nassour said he may sell it to a museum.

An earlier attempt to hock hock: see wine.  her belongings ended in March 1997 when a last-minute federal bankruptcy petition was filed on behalf of O'Hair, her son Jon Garth Murray and granddaughter Robin Murray-O'Hair, all of whom were missing.

It was not known how much was raised by the auction.

The spare cuttings of the ivory silk gown the late princess wore at her 1981 wedding will probably be sold at auction later this year, said Peter Smith, a publicist for the vendors.

Six snippets of handmade lace and silk will be offered - the largest being about 4 square inches - along with a workshop sketch and a letter of authenticity from wedding dress designer Elizabeth Emmanuel.

The cuttings have recently been valued at $164,000 or more, said Smith, who specializes in royal memorabilia.

The sellers are an elderly couple from Norfolk, central England, who were given the cuttings as a gift for baby-sitting the dress designers' children while the dress was being made.
