NEWS & NOTES : NETWORK EARMARKS $420 MILLION FOR NEW MTV, NICK ANIMATION.


Beavis and Butt-head may get some new friends.

MTV Networks MTV Networks is a division of media conglomerate Viacom that oversees the operation of many TV network and Internet brands, including the first MTV channel.

The company was established in 1984 after Warner Communications and American Express decided to divest the basic cable
 announced Tuesday that it will invest $420 million in original animation projects for both MTV MTV

Coming projects will include the previously announced Nickelodeon series ``Hey Arnold'' and ``Angry Beavers,'' as well as a weekly series called ``Daria,'' who is the female character on ``Beavis and Butt-head,'' whom they call ``Diarrhea, cha, cha, cha.''

Both Nick and MTV are scheduled to release major animated films in conjunction with fellow Viacom company Paramount Pictures.

One movie will be ``Beavis and Butt-head Do America,'' scheduled to be released in December, and a ``Rugrats'' movie.
