NEWS & NOTES : NBC'S WEDNESDAY `DATELINE' FUTURE UNCERTAIN, INSIDERS SAY.


NBC's desire to put together a two-hour comedy block on Wednesday nights next fall may come at the expense of one of the four weekly editions of ``Dateline.''

It is the holding company for copyrights associated with Viacom's corporate website and its cable networks.

Kricfalusi, who was fired from the Nickelodeon show in 1992, sued Viacom and several of the entertainment giant's divisions last year for copyright infringement and failure to relinquish certain licensing rights in the wake of his departure. Kricfalusi's attorney, Stephen Sessa, confirmed that the suit was settled this month. Sessa said that he is ``not at liberty'' to discuss the terms of the confidential settlement but noted that ``Mr. Kricfalusi is very happy with the terms of the settlement. This is a very positive thing for John.''
