A lot of minutes: The granddaddy of all newsmagazines, CBS' ``60 Minutes,'' is going where no other program has gone before.

With last week's Nielsen numbers, ``60 Minutes'' has been assured of ranking among the top-10 shows for the season, which would be its 20th straight year in that heady grouping.

``It's kind of one of those magic numbers,'' executive producer Don Hewitt said Tuesday. ``We've never chased ratings - they chased us.''

There hasn't been another program in the history of television to put together a streak of top-10 finishes like ``60 Minutes.'' In fact, none has ever come close.

Three comedies starring Lucille Ball (``I Love Lucy I Love Lucy is a television situation comedy, starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, also featuring Vivian Vance and William Frawley. CBS' classic western, ``Gunsmoke,'' was in the top 10 for 13 seasons, seven of them in a row.

Hewitt maintains that ``60 Minutes'' has succeeded without specifically targeting the sweeps periods - used by stations to set future advertising rates - for particularly juicy stories.
