NEWS & NOTE : NBC'S `WILL & GRACE' SLIDES INTO ENVIED THURSDAY NIGHT SLOT.

Byline: Daily News Wire Services

NBC's hot new sitcom, ``Will & Grace,'' is about to get hotter. (Yes!)

``W&G,'' starring Eric McCormack Eric James McCormack (b. April 18 1963,[1] in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is an Emmy Award-winning Canadian-American actor of Canadian, Irish and Cherokee descent. He maintains residences in Los Angeles and Vancouver.  and Debra Messing as a gay lawyer and his straight female roommate, will move from Tuesdays to NBC's most primo real estate - Thursdays. At 8:30 p.m., no less, following the second-highest-rated show in the known universe, ``Friends.'' The fun begins April 8.

This will be the third move for ``W&G,'' which began the season on Mondays. In December, it went to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays, where it has regularly beaten ABC's critically adored ``Sports Night.''

NBC's current occupant at 8:30 Thursdays, Christina Applegate's freshman ``Jesse,'' will have finished its season's run of originals by April 8. It's expected to return in the fall.
