NEWHALL RANCH ROAD EXTENSION NOW OPEN.

VALENCIA - A 1.5-mile extension of Newhall Ranch Road opened on Wednesday, easing the commute to the Golden State Freeway The Golden State Freeway is a north-south freeway running through Kern County and Los Angeles County, California. Originally built as U.S. Highway 99, it was re-signed as Interstate 5 in 1964.  from Saugus and northern Valencia.

The new stretch, from Avenue Tibbets to Rye Canyon Road, also is expected to cut traffic headed to Valencia High School Valencia High School may refer to:

 and through the Valencia Industrial Center, officials with The Newhall Land and Farming Company The Newhall Land and Farming Company is a land management company based in Valencia, California, United States. The company is responsible for the master community planning of Valencia, as well as the management of farm land elsewhere in the state.  said. Newhall Land built the four-lane road.

Newhall Ranch Road eventually will link to state Highway 126 to the northwest, with a target completion date of 2003. At present, it ends abruptly just east of Bouquet Canyon Road, but eventually it is designed to intersect with the new Golden Valley Road now under construction in Saugus.

The new extension is among $60 million in projects to be financed through the Valencia Bridge and Thoroughfare THOROUGHFARE. A street or way so open that one can go through and get out of it without returning. It differs from a cul de sac, (q.v.) which is open only at one end.
