NEWBURY PARK - In her relatively few 13 years, Lisa Lewolt has become quite familiar with gracing the TV screen - commercials for Mervyn's, Lexus, Chuck E. Cheese. But this Sunday night Sunday Night, later named Michelob Presents Night Music, was an NBC late-night television show which aired for two seasons between 1988 and 1990 as a showcase for jazz and eclectic musical artists.  will be special.

``I really want to be an actress,'' Lewolt said. ``It's different because (with) commercials you don't usually have lines. But for (a series) you have to play a character.''

Lewolt, an 8th-grader at Sequoia Middle School when she's not working, has been acting for three years, but earlier experience in dancing and gymnastics gymnastics, exercises for the balanced development of the body (see also aerobics), or the competitive sport derived from these exercises.  physical ability and a very rich imagination,'' said Christine McClure, an acting teacher who has worked extensively with young actors and began coaching Lewolt in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

``Having a good imagination is the key to being a good actor,'' McClure said. ``She just started in theatrical (acting) so she's right at the beginning. I definitely believe in her talent.''

That talent, said Lewolt, is partially a gift and also hard work.

``Dancing is more of a natural ability. Acting, I had to learn,'' she said. ``I was able to pick it up pretty quick, but you can't get anywhere by yourself.''

Lewolt has never had to approach a performance alone, not with her parents and brother supporting her ambition.

Her family's move from Fresno to Newbury Park in 1998 was in part to secure better teachers and further her opportunities.

``It's really a total family commitment, but the drive has to come from the individual,'' said her dad, Bruce, a computer software designer.

Her mother, Kim, helps get Lisa to appointments and her brother, Brian, often helps her study her lines.

``She was born to be a performer. We've known that since she was 4,'' he said. ``She just shines for the crowd and the crowd reacts to her.''

McClure, Lewolt's acting teacher, said this quality is essential.

``An actor has to want to be seen,'' McClure said.

And seen she will be on Sunday night, when she appears in her biggest role so far.
