 NEWBRIDGE AWARDED US$10 MILLION CONTRACT
 WITH BRAZILIAN CARRIER, EMBRATEL
 KANATA, Ontario, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Newbridge Networks (NASDAQ-NMS: NNCXF) announced today that the company has been awarded a contract through its Brazilian distributor Moddata S.A. to provide equipment to Embratel, the Brazilian carrier.
 The contract, worth in excess of US$10 million over a two-year period, is for the supply of Newbridge wide area networking equipment including the 3645 MainStreet(R) High Capacity Bandwidth Manager, the 3600 MainStreet Bandwidth Manager and the 4602 MainStreet Intelligent NetworkStation(TM).
 Embratel is building a nationwide data services network which will make them a leading supplier of advanced communications services in South America.
 "This contract emphasizes the ability of Newbridge to supply major networks throughout the world. I am delighted to see South American carriers taking advantage of the most modern and flexible communications systems available today," said Mike Pascoe, vice president and general manager of the Americas region for Newbridge.
