The products of all three business units will be sold through the three existing geographically aligned marketing, sales and support organizations for the America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific area.
Concurrently, Newbridge is further integrating its marketing, sales and support operations for the Americas Region by moving certain regional headquarters functions from its worldwide corporate headquarters in Kanata, Ontario, to its United States headquarters in Herndon, Va. F. Michael Pascoe, vice president and general manager of the Americas Region, is relocating to Herndon and will assume the role of president of Newbridge Networks Inc., the company's United States subsidiary.
Peter Madsen has resigned his position as vice president and general manager, United States Region and president of Newbridge Networks Inc. in order to pursue other interests in the telecommunications industry. Discussions currently underway are expected to result in Madsen working with the company's subsidiary Elcombe Systems Limited to develop the United States market for Elcombe products, including the MainStreet Messenger personal emergency response system. Terry Matthews, Newbridge chairman and president had the following comment: "I wish to thank Peter Madsen for his contribution to the formative years of Newbridge, and wish him every success in his new endeavors. We are expecting great results form the alliance of Peter with Elcombe Systems to market the revolutionary MainStreet Messenger products."
Newbridge has asked Madsen to provide advice and support for Pascoe during a transitional period. Madsen will continue as a director of Newbridge Networks Corporation.
Commenting on the organizational changes, Peter Sommerer, chief operating officer of Newbridge commented, "The completion of the consolidation of our worldwide operations into three geographically aligned operating regions, namely the Americas for North and South America, EMEA for Europe, Middle East and Africa and A&P for the Asia and Pacific area, brings our goal of shaping Newbridge into a truly international company addressing the realities of the global economy of the 1990s a major step closer. This geographic organization is now complemented with a product oriented business structure, which will allow the company to concurrently address the complexities of large Integrated Special Services Digital Networks (IS (2)DN) as well as to aggressively pursue the opportunities offered by the rapidly evolving market for products providing connectivity between networks of all kinds. The formation of a separate business unit for advanced network products will also lead Newbridge to become a supplier of higher value solutions employing the power of an open computer platform tightly integrated into the information infrastructure of today's digital networks."
