NEW YORK POWER AUTHORITY APPROVES THREE INTERIM PROMOTIONS

LEWISTON, N.Y., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- New York Power Authority trustees Tuesday approved the promotion of Robert G. Schoenberger to president and chief operating officer on an interim basis and also approved interim promotions for two other executives.
Robert L. Tscherne will assume Schoenberger's previous duties as executive vice president finance and administration, and Sally L. Irving will succeed Tscherne as vice president corporate finance. Irving had served as treasurer.
Power Authority Chairman Richard M. Flynn announced in early June that Schoenberger would become interim president, succeeding John C. Brons, who resigned.
The trustees, who formally approved the new assignments at a meeting at the Power Authority's Niagara Power Project, will conduct a nationwide search for a new president. Flynn said that Schoenberger will receive serious consideration, but that final action on all three positions will await the outcome of the presidential search.
Schoenberger, a White Plains resident, will oversee the Power Authority's day-to-day power supply operations, as well as support activities in such areas as finance, administration and human resources. He joined the staff in 1979 and became executive vice president finance and administration -- the Power Authority's chief financial officer -- in 1985.
Tscherne, a resident of Carle Place in Nassau County, joined the Power Authority staff in 1978 and was promoted to vice president corporate finance in 1985. In his new position, he will oversee budgeting and accounting, computerized information services, corporate finance, procurement, real estate and records management.
A member of the staff since 1980, Irving, who lives in New York City, has been the treasurer since 1985. Her new responsibilities will include treasury, financial risk management, financial planning, disbursement authorization and administrative services.
