NEW YORK LOCAL GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE CORPORATION REFUNDED BONDS RAISED TO 'AAA' BY FITCH -- FITCH FINANCIAL WIRE --

NEW YORK, Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Ratings on two maturities of two series of New York Local Government Assistance Corporation bonds are revised to "AAA" from "A+" by Fitch. The rating changes affect the corporation's series 1991A bonds due in 2016 ($231.2 million outstanding) and series 1991D bonds due in 2021 ($94.7 million outstanding).
The rating changes result from the bonds being refunded by proceeds from the corporation's series 1993E refunding bonds. The refunded bonds are now secured by noncallable U.S. government obligations held in an irrevocable escrow. The series 1991A and 1991D bonds will be called at par on April 1, 2001 and April 1, 2002, respectively.
