 New Year's Eve bashes on the small screen. Here are the biggies from New York.

-- ``New Year's Rockin' Eve 2005,'' 10 p.m. ABC ABC
 in full American Broadcasting Co.

Major U.S. television network. It began when the expanding national radio network NBC split into the separate Red and Blue networks in 1928.
 (Channel 7): Hosted by Regis Philbin, stars include Ashlee Simpson, Big & Rich, Ciara, Good Charlotte and more. ``This is the greatest temp job in the world,'' Philbin said. ``I just hope I can uphold the standards Dick Clark has set ... and I look forward to his return next year.''

-- ``NBC's New Year's Eve With Carson Daly,'' 10 p.m. NBC NBC
 in full National Broadcasting Co.

Major U.S. commercial broadcasting company. It was formed in 1926 by RCA Corp., General Electric Co. (GE), and Westinghouse and was the first U.S. company to operate a broadcast network.
 (Channel 4): Daly launches a new network tradition beamed from Rockefeller Center, with pop and fizz delivered by Avril Lavigne, Duran Duran and even Donald Trump. ``We're aiming for young viewers,'' Daly said. ``It's going to be a very fast-paced show that goes for a happy medium between a New Year's special and a party.''

--``MTV's Iced Out New Year's Eve 2005,'' 10:30 p.m. MTV MTV
 in full Music Television

U.S. cable television network, established in 1980 to present videos of musicians and singers performing new rock music. MTV won a wide following among rock-music fans worldwide and greatly affected the popular-music business.
: The music network brings star power in Lindsay Lohan and various VJs hosting Snoop Dogg, Green Day, Ja Rule and more.

-- ``New Year's Eve: Live From Times Square With Ryan Seacrest,'' 11 p.m. Fox (Channel 11): Warming up for a new season of ``American Idol,'' Seacrest hosts from Times Square for the third year. Highlights include the world premiere of hip-hop star Usher's 20-minute mini-movie ``Caught Up,'' and guest shots from rockers Hoobastank and Evanescence ev·a·nesce
