NEW VALLEY COOL GUY'S NORTH A CLUB FOR THE HIP, FAMILIES.

STUDIO CITY - Guy Starkman bets a sense of slickness and some very big televisions can bring hipness to the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Tonight, the heir to the Jerry's Deli empire and mega-hip club owner will celebrate the grand opening of Guy's North at Pinz, the second of his eponymous hangouts where the rich and fabulous go to party. Starkman and his partners spent $3 million on the club, providing banquet space for 300, THX A design system that provides realistic sound playback for movie and home theater from THX, Ltd., San Rafael, CA (www.thx.com), an independent spin-off from Lucasfilm, Ltd. The THX Sound System was developed during the production of the Return of the Jedi in 1982 and named after George  sound and a television screen that measures more than 12 feet wide.

Occupying the second floor of Pinz Entertainment Center on Ventura Boulevard Ventura Boulevard is one of the primary east-west thouroughfares in the San Fernando Valley; as it was originally a part of the El Camino Real (the trail between Spanish missions), Ventura Boulevard is the oldest route in the San Fernando Valley. The way he's trying to do that mirrors his own changes over the years, as he's mellowed from a man about town into a dad who appreciates a mellower vibe. When he opened the original Guy's in West Hollywood 10 years ago, Starkman made the tabloids and dated models. He turned the original into a pleasure den where celebrities had their birthday parties and exited to a hail of paparazzi pa·pa·raz·zo

Though he still plans on making the club an oasis of hip, its namesake also sees the club as a place for bar mitzvahs, birthdays and corporate events.

``When I opened Guy's, I was single and wanted my own place to hang out,'' he said. ``Now I'm married with three kids. I want something different.''
