Tichenor led Richard Peoples and incumbent John Hoskinson in the race for one seat, while incumbent MacGregor ran unopposed for the other seat. Elections in the college and Hart districts were open to 86,300 registered voters across the Santa Clarita Valley, while the Castaic and Saugus district races were open to the residents of those areas.
