NEW TEEN CENTER PROPOSED PLAN WOULD CONVERT NEWBURY PARK STORE TO YOUTH FACILITY.

THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - Mayor Dennis Gillette wants the city to study the possibility of converting an empty grocery store into a teen center for Newbury Park.

The City Council on Tuesday will consider a feasibility study "A Feasibility Study" is an episode of the original The Outer Limits television show. It was remade in 1997 as part of the revived The Outer Limits series with a minor title change.  on Gillette's proposal for the Albertsons across from Newbury Park High School that will be moving operations to a new location.

``We have had just a tremendous, phenomenal success with the teen center located in Thousand Oaks,'' Gillette said. ``One of the difficulties for younger teens who don't drive is (the inability) for them to get to this location.''

Gillette said a study would examine if a community center with an emphasis on youth programs is needed for the area and what sort of programs could be offered at a building of this size. It would also analyze the rehabilitation rehabilitation: see physical therapy.  costs, operational costs and possible participation from corporations and the Conejo Recreation and Park District, and other issues.

Gillette said the study also would look at how such a center at 123 N. Reino Road would fit in with Newbury Park High School and the Dos Vientos Community Center.

``The teen center is doing very well,'' said General Manager Tex Ward of the park district, which oversees the center.
