It is one of the largest air force bases in the United States and has the world's longest runway.  -- Boeing's new KC-767 tanker is expected to begin testing of its takeoff performance this month at Edwards Air Force Base.

A modified version of Boeing's 767 airliner, the prototype logged its 100th test flight last week while performing U.S. Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), component of the U.S. Department of Transportation that sets standards for the air-worthiness of all civilian aircraft, inspects and licenses them, and regulates civilian and military air traffic through its air traffic control  certification stall stall, small division of a larger space, sometimes partly partitioned. After its takeoff testing at Edwards, the KC-767A will undergo testing of its hose/drogue and boom system later this summer and fall.
