 NEW SOUND-ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM FOR HEARING-IMPAIRED
DEBUTS AT THE PALACE FOR TONIGHT'S PISTONS/KNICKS PLAYOFF GAME
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- A new sound- enhancement system, designed to increase enjoyment for hearing-impaired guests at The Palace of Auburn Hills, debuts at tonight's Detroit Pistons/New York Knicks first-round NBA playoff game.
A rarity for arenas, the personal sound-enhancement system brings public-address announcements, music or other program sound directly to the listener's ear, so that distracting noises, reverberation or distance from the sound source no longer interfere with a person's ability to hear. With this system, hearing-impaired persons can more actively participate in events at The Palace and enjoy events they may have avoided in the past.
The system features tiny, battery-operated personal receivers, with two permanent base-station transmitters allowing for two separate program sources. For Pistons' games, hearing-impaired fans will have the option to select the public-address system or the play-by-play broadcast on WWJ AM 950. Audio sources for other events at The Palace will vary.
The receivers will be available at the Guest Services' Information Booth in the west foyer of The Palace.
Opened in August 1988, The Palace is owned and operated by partners William Davidson, David Hermelin and Robert Sosnick of Arena Associates, Inc. Named "Arena of the Year" the past three years by Performance magazine, the arena hosts approximately 185 events and attracts 2.5 million patrons annually.
