NEW SOFTWARE ENHANCES SYSTEM MANAGEMENT, MONITORING FOR UNISYS E-@CTION SERVERS.

Unisys Corporation (company) Unisys Corporation - The company formed in 1984-5 when Burroughs Corporation merged with Sperry Corporation. This was when the phrase "dinosaurs mating" was coined.  has announced Unisys e-@ction Enterprise Server Software 3.0, providing enterprise customers with new capabilities for data center-class reliability, performance, manageability and uninterrupted solution availability.

Included with Unisys e-@ction Enterprise Servers ES7000 and ES5000, Enterprise Server Software 3.0 enhances server administration, featuring automated corrective actions and extended platform management.

The new release introduces Server Director, which integrates the current Enterprise Server Software tools with NetIQ AppManager technology to provide centralized monitoring and management of Windows-based servers and operating systems Operating systems can be categorized by technology, ownership, licensing, working state, usage, and by many other characteristics. In practice, many of these groupings may overlap. . It can seamlessly accommodate the full AppManager product for management of Windows-based applications.

The Server Director enables tight integration with enterprise management infrastructures such as Computer Associates CA-Unicenter, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  Tivoli and Hewlett-Packard OpenView. Server Director allows administrators to optimize the performance and ensure the availability of Windows 2000 on Unisys e-@ction Enterprise Servers from one central, easy-to-use console. In addition, Unisys Server Director significantly reduces server support costs through automated event detection and corrective actions, such as process workload balancing.

Server Director can also be seamlessly upgraded to NetIQ AppManager to perform enterprise-wide application management in Windows 2000 environments.

NetworkIT optimizes network performance and availability by monitoring network performance from the end-user and system perspectives. This enables administrators to proactively manage the environment by providing an accurate picture of the network's performance.
