NEW POLICE PANEL APPOINTED VILLARAIGOSA LEAVES 1 HAHN COMMISSIONER.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa Antonio Ramon Villaraigosa (born Antonio (Tony) Ramon Villar, Jr. on January 23, 1953) is the mayor of Los Angeles, California. He is the first Latino mayor of Los Angeles since Cristobal Aguilar in 1872.  on Thursday replaced all but one member of the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Police Commission in a major restructuring that he said was designed to emphasize public safety and police reform.

Standing at the entrance to MacArthur Park, Villaraigosa said he wants a commission that will improve the department and make public safety the top priority.

``My goal for Los Angeles is that every neighborhood become a safer one,'' Villaraigosa said, citing stepped-up police enforcement that has improved MacArthur Park, a former haven for drug dealing and gang violence.

``I want every park in Los Angeles to be one where families can go and feel safe at any time of the week.''

Mack, who has been a civil rights activist for nearly 40 years, was among the first African-American leaders to break with Hahn and endorse Villaraigosa in his campaign for mayor.

Over the years, Mack has been involved in several committees and panels working with the LAPD 1. LAPD - Link Access Procedure on the D channel.

Ordin and Pacheco also bring a detailed knowledge of LAPD operations to their posts.

Ordin worked on the Christopher Commission report that delved into the use of force by Los Angeles police officers and resulted in a number of changes - including term limits for police chiefs.

Pacheco worked on the Rampart Review report that examined the activities of the anti-gang CRASH unit that had been working out of the Rampart Division. Many of the report's recommendations were adopted as part of the consent decree A settlement of a lawsuit or criminal case in which a person or company agrees to take specific actions without admitting fault or guilt for the situation that led to the lawsuit.
