NEW NATIONAL MAGAZINE FOR CONSUMERS AGED 70 PLUS

NEW NATIONAL MAGAZINE FOR CONSUMERS AGED 70 PLUS
BERKELEY, Calif., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Grand Times Publishing,

Inc. has launched the first national magazine designed for Americans aged 70+. Named Grand Times, the magazine will be published bimonthly, beginning with the November-December 1992 premier issues.
As a general entertainment magazine, Grand Times, will contain a wide array of stories, columns and news items geared particularly to the very large and rapidly growing number of older consumers. One of the magazine's features will be reviews of new products and services designed to improve the quality of an older person's life. Other coverage includes subjects as diverse as recreation, cooking, health care, money management, business opportunities and travel tips. The selection of articles and stories is overseen by an editorial board of advisers ranging in age from 67 to 86.
Equally important, is the exciting layout and format of Grand Times. Special size print and graphics designed especially for the older reader will compensate for the age-related decline in vision experience by the majority of older people.
Another unique aspect is the subscription marketing plan. The marketing plan promotes Grand Times subscriptions as gifts to be given by older baby boomers to their parents and friends.
In announcing the new publication, Reece R. Halpern, publisher, stated that: "We are extremely excited about the launch of Grand Times. Not only is it the first and only national magazine designed especially for senior members of the mature market, but it will also be an invaluable advertising medium for companies desiring to reach these consumers. Due to its unique design and editorial content, Grand Times will be able to deliver mature market consumers who are no longer reading most standard-size print magazines and who find relatively little to interest them in national television programs."
Halpern went on to say: "Grand Times will be reaching one of the fastest growing, most affluent age groups in America. Market research shows that by the year 2000, the number of Americans in the 65+ age group will have increased to 35 million and 50 percent of the group will have already passed the age of 75. In addition, 95 percent of the 65+ population are active, healthy and independent individuals who make their own financial and life-style decisions and who do not reside in nursing homes."
Advertisers, advertising agencies and subscribers interested in additional information should write: Grand Times, P.O. Box 9493, Berkeley, California 94709-0493 or telephone 510-848-0456.
