NEW MANAGER NAMED AT LORAIN ASSEMBLY PLANT

LORAIN, Ohio, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The manager of Ford Motor Company's (NYSE: F) Atlanta Assembly Plant -- rated the second most efficient domestic car assembly plant by a Harbour and Associates study -- is coming to Lorain.
Robert D. Anderson has been named manager at Ford's Lorain Assembly Plant succeeding John E. Akins, who has been appointed program operations manager for Ford's Body and Assembly Operations in Dearborn, Mich. Akins will oversee operations at the Lorain and Ohio Assembly Plants.
Anderson joined Ford in 1962 as a trainee foreman at the Louisville (Ky.) Assembly Plant. He served in a variety of supervisory positions before being named general superintendent of the Kentucky Truck Plant in 1978.
A year later, Anderson was named production manager of the Wayne (Mich.) Assembly Plant, then the assistant manager of the Oakville Assembly Plant near Toronto in 1980.
He became assistant manager of the Atlanta Assembly Plant in 1984 and manager there in 1987. Ford's Kansas City Assembly Plant currently has a slight edge over Atlanta in domestic car plant efficiency.
A native of Louisville, Anderson attended Indiana University Southeast and the University of Louisville, studying business administration. He was born Dec. 22, 1933.
