NEW JERSEY IS 'CONNECTING THE FUTURE'; LIVE TELECAST BY STATE'S CABLE TELEVISION SYSTEMS TO SHOWCASE POTENTIAL OF CABLE TECHNOLOGY

 TRENTON, N.J., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Current and future capabilities of cable television in New Jersey will be showcased in a one-hour live telecast -- "Connecting the Future: How Cable Television is Changing with New Jersey." Anchored by CNN's Bill Hartley, "Connecting the Future" will be carried live over the Cable Television Network of New Jersey (CTN) at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26. Important announcement of new initiatives by New Jersey's cable television operators will be made during the program.
 The telecast will originate from the Assembly Chamber of the State House in Trenton, the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City and demonstration sites throughout New Jersey. For the first time, centers across the state will be linked in an interactive videoconference and technology demonstration via cable television. Distance Learning, telemedicine and home banking will be among the featured services.
 Assembly Speaker Garabed "Chuck" Haytaian, other state officials and invited guests will be on hand to participate in the videoconference.
 Sponsored by the New Jersey Cable Television Association (NJCTA) and its member cable systems, "Connecting the Future: How Cable Television is Changing with New Jersey" will be rebroadcast on CTN and on local cable systems at a later date. Dates and times to be announced.
 CTN is a service of the New Jersey Cable Operators. The Network is part of basic cable service for over 1.7 million New Jerseyans.
