NEW IHS SITE OFFERS BOTH FREE AND FEE-BASED INFO & SERVICES.

IHS Engineering, a division of Information Handling Services (Englewood, CO), has begun the production of Tech- Savvy.com, described as a "one-stop shop" for technical and engineering information, including standards, specifications and parts. IHS said the new site offers both free and fee-- based services that allow small and mid-sized companies to benefit from what was previously only available to larger companies.

Built from assets contained in what was e-commerce site Industry.net, the new site contains databases from both IHS and Industry.net and contains six main sections: Parts, with information on more than 90 million parts, including the entire U.S. government procurement history; Standards, with data on more than 450 technical and engineering standards institutes; Historical, with obsolete technical data; Company Directory, with listings of business centers and more than 450,000 manufacturer records; and World Wide Web, with links to Web sites that contain only technical or business-related information.

IHS Engineering databases contain more than 20 million pages of texts and graphics, including vendor catalogs, industry standards, parts, electronic components, specifications and related information. It is expanding at approximately two million pages per year.
