NEW GENERAL MANAGER APPOINTED AT FAYETTE TUBULAR PRODUCTS PLANT
 IN LIVINGSTON, TENN.
TROY, Mich., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- William J. Faris has been appointed general manager of Fayette Tubular Products' Livingston, Tenn., plant, according to W. John Weinhardt, Fayette Tubular Products president.
Faris replaces Danny Kirby, who was appointed vice president, operations, of the Jacobs Vehicle Equipment Company. Both Fayette Tubular and Jacobs Vehicle Equipment are subsidiary companies of Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR) of Washington, D.C.
"Bill Faris was a natural choice to succeed the former general manager at our Livingston Plant," Weinhardt said in making the announcement. "He played a major role in developing and implementing one-piece, just-in-time production methods at Livingston and in converting the entire plant to cellularized processing."
Faris formerly was the Livingston Plant's operations manager, and headed up the dedicated production teams which service the General Motors, Honda, Zexel and Nippondenso accounts.
Before joining Fayette Tubular in 1989, Faris held a succession of production and operations positions at Northern Telecom, Inc. While there, he was the key production interface on a core team responsible for converting Northern Telecom's Nashville Plant to just-in-time manufacturing methods.
Fayette Tubular Products is a major supplier of engineered automotive air conditioner hose and tube assemblies, with world headquarters and product engineering and research and development activities located in Troy, Mich.
The company operates production facilities in Reading, Mich.; Fayette, Ohio; and Livingston, Tenn.
