NEW DISKEEPER 7.0 GOES GOLD: INCLUDES WINDOWS XP CERT.

Executive Software recently announced the release to manufacturing of Diskeeper 7.0 with features that are likely to reshape the industry.

According to NPD Intelect, Diskeeper's performance technology already represents over 90% of all corporate defragmentation software sales. However, in addition to a major leap in core defragmentation technology, the newest release marks a significant advancement toward the goal of "zero administration" for this vital system performance technology.

"Diskeeper 7.0 eliminates site-wide installation costs by allowing a System Administrator the ability to `push' the installation of Diskeeper in a single and simple operation, from one place," said Joe Osgood, Diskeeper Program Manager. "We knew we had a breakthrough when our beta testers told us our `push' feature is the first they've seen that actually works as it should and is truly simple to use."

Disk fragmentation slows down computers and lowers productivity. This fact may have become most well known after an IDC report, which concluded that corporations are losing $50 billion a year due to the impact disk fragmentation has on system performance. However, it is also equally well documented that the installation process to put software throughout the network carries a significant price. Recent research shows it costs an average of $25 or more per machine just to install a new software program. Dramatically exceeding the cost of the software itself, installation costs can amount to tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars per network.

As a result, "Executive Software felt that, particularly in today's economic climate, a `complete' software solution should be developed in order to provide the best defragmentation technology -- along with new technology to lower the cost of administration," said Kathy Wattman, Senior VP of Marketing.

In an effort to totally handle all types of fragmentation with the greatest ease for System Administrators, Diskeeper 7.0 also includes a revolutionary management tool that allows critical system files, like the Paging File, to be scheduled remotely for defragmentation during boot time.

"Microsoft KB article No. Q227350 explains that certain system files can only be defragmented safely during boot time. That is the reason we have made it so effortless in Diskeeper 7.0 to schedule and remotely control this critical form of defragmentation," said Osgood.

In addition to network features for the boot-time defrag process, the run time speed is now so fast that no down time occurs.
