NEW DIMENSIONS IN MEDICINE AND NIPPON SIGMAX OF JAPAN
 ENTER INTO DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT
MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Effective Dec. 9, 1991, New Dimensions in Medicine (NDM), a wholly owned subsidiary of MEI Diversified Inc., entered into an exclusive distribution agreement for ClearSite(R) wound dressing with Nippon Sigmax Company, Ltd. (Nippon Sigmax) for the country of Japan. ClearSite is a clear hydrogel developed by NDM which has several unique properties, including the ability to absorb two to three times its weight in wound exudate while maintaining its integrity and clarity throughout the healing process.
Nippon Sigmax is a well-known distributor in the medical supplies business, who under the distribution agreement has committed significant funds for clinical studies and promotional activities to establish the ClearSite product line in Japan. The Nippon Sigmax Distribution Agreement is currently subject to receiving the approval for the ClearSite license application which is being filed with the Japanese government. The agreement requires Nippon Sigmax to purchase at least $5 million of ClearSite products over the next five years. Japan's traditional wound dressing market is estimated to be $75 - $100 million.
NDM is currently negotiating agreements for the distribution of its ClearSite product line in several other foreign countries. Baxter HealthCare Corporation is distributing NDM's hydrogel wound dressing under Baxter's Gel-Syte(R) trademark in the U.S. hospital market.
NDM also manufactures and markets ECG monitoring electrode and electrosurgical products in addition to its recently launched ClearSite wound dressing product line.
