NEW COMPUTER SOFTWARE THAT CAN SAVE PARENTS OF COLLEGE
STUDENTS TUITION COSTS INTRODUCED BY FLORIDA COMPANY
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- A South Florida company is introducing a PC software product which advises students to enter the best college they are academically eligible for attending, while showing their parents how to increase their own retirement funds during their children's college years.
"Rather than eliminate schools because of cost, parents should steer their children to the best school that they qualify for academically. The cost ends up the same," said Tom Hinkel, noted financial planner and author of the PC software program, 'GoldenRules.'"
Produced by The WonderWorks Factory of Palm Beach, GoldenRules advances the financial process by applying tax laws to the income and asset figures which parents must submit to the government. Parents of students seeking financial aid complete a form listing their income and assets. The information, after government analysis, results in an exact dollar amount (Family Contribution) which the family must contribute to its child's education that year, regardless of which college is attended.
According to Hinkel, college costs have been reduced in every instance that GoldenRules has been used. "In fact," said Hinkel, "some results have been notably dramatic. The parents of one young lady, a freshman at Providence College, will pay slightly more than $2,000, out of an overall total nearing $20,000. Parents of a student at the University of Central Florida will pay $622 out of a total bill exceeding $9,000."
The company's market: 9 million college students receiving some form of government financial aid. High school guidance counselors are being alerted to the program's multiple benefits. A program which could donate millions to high school coffers is the company's primary marketing tool.
"We contemplated traditional advertising, but working directly with the source that's developing the student -- the high school -- appears more beneficial," says Bill Hartigan, WonderWorks marketing director. "Our cost will be similar, but while initial sales may be slower, we envision better quality long-term results." The program would allow high schools to boast of a more impressive alumni list while steering parents to more affordable costs today, and greater financial security come retirement.
