NEW CARLSON HOSPITALITY GROUP DEVELOPMENT OFFICE OPENS IN BANGKOK

BANGKOK, Thailand, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- A new development office to be operated by Radisson Hotels Southeast Asia Ltd. will open in Bangkok focusing on the development and management of Radisson Hotels and Colony Hotels & Resorts throughout Southeast Asia, company officials announced yesterday.
The new Bangkok office joins existing Radisson offices in Singapore, Australia and Kuala Lumpur and demonstrates Radisson's aggressive plans for growth in the Asia/Pacific region of the world.
The announcement of this latest expansion of the worldwide Radisson organization was presented in Bangkok by Juergen Bartels, president of Carlson Hospitality Group, Inc., the parent company of Radisson Hotels International. "Carlson Hospitality Group is rapidly growing throughout the world, adding one new lodging location approximately every 5.5 days," Bartels said. "Asia is destined to be the number one world travel market and we expect to focus a major part of our global growth in this region during the remainder of this decade," he added.
Officials said the establishment of this nonexclusive management and development office for the company in Bangkok will provide a strategic springboard for growth in the region.
Prarob Mokaves, an internationally renowned Thai hotelier, will head the new office as president and CEO. With over 26 years of hotel industry experience, Mokaves has had long associations with the Sheraton and Inter-Continental groups in earlier years and also served as managing director of Regent International Hotels in Thailand. He was also vice president of development for the Regent International Hotels Group and president of the Hotels Division for planned "mega" resort with Desaru International Resorts Sdn Bhd, Malaysia.
The office will also be supported by a team of development, technical and operations professionals including K.B. Kachru, senior vice president of development, who is also currently senior vice president of Radisson Hotels Asia.
The chairman of the board of directors is Rajan Jetley, the current president of Radisson Hotels Asia and formerly the chairman and managing director of Air India. Ian Crowhurst, the managing partner of Lifestyle Ventures, a Singapore-based hospitality and entertainment management consulting company, is also a director of the company.
Carlson Companies Inc., the parent company of Carlson Hospitality Group, Inc., is one of the largest private companies in the United States. The Carlson organization includes over 98,000 employees worldwide with system-wide annual revenues of approximately $10 billion USD.
The lodging operations of Carlson Hospitality Group, Inc., which includes Radisson Hotels International, Colony Hotels & Resorts and Country Inns by Carlson, totals 344 locations worldwide.
