NEW BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCED BETWEEN JOSTENS AND KODAK
MINNEAPOLIS, June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Jostens Inc. (NYSE: JDS) has chosen Eastman Kodak Co. (NYSE: EK) as its preferred supplier of photographic film, paper, and related materials for the yearbook and school photography businesses within the School Products Group. The decision was announced recently by Jostens Chief Executive Officer H. William Lurton.
Aside from the advantages of consolidating purchases, Jostens' alliance with Kodak offers Jostens and its dealers a number of benefits. "Kodak's technological leadership, manufacturing excellence, and brand name strength all offer Jostens important advantages in today's competitive marketplace. Kodak's products promise a foundation of quality for all of Jostens' school photography and yearbook plant operations," said Lurton. Plans include promotional tie-ins with the Olympics, the PGA and LPGA tours, Disneyworld, and the Kodak NASCAR race car.
Jostens also has plans to utilize Kodak technological developments. The Kodak photo CD system, which allows for digital storage and retrieval of images, will be an advantage to both the photography and yearbook areas.
Jostens and Kodak are compatible partners because the companies have similar corporate philosophies. "We both have made commitments to sales and earnings growth, basing the future on technological advantages, excellence in products and production, and marketing sophistication," Lurton said. Jostens' commitment is evidenced by continued growth into new areas such as products designed to recognize employee achievement, software for learning enhancement, and the sportswear business.
Jostens is a leading provider of products and services for the youth, education, sports award and recognition markets. The Fortune 500 company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "JOS" and last year reported sales of $860 million.
