NEW BNA/ACCA PUBLICATION TARGETS CORPORATE LIABILITY

WASHINGTON, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bureau of National Affairs, Inc., and the American Corporate Counsel Association announce the publication of a new guide and service designed to help corporations comply with regulatory requirements and avoid civil and criminal liability.
The new manual aids in-house counsel, outside counsel, and others charged with the design, implementation, and operation of "effective" compliance programs in the areas of the environment, job health and safety, antitrust, insider trading, government contracts, bribery, fraud, and false statements. Corporations that abide by these criteria can mitigate corporate criminal penalties dramatically.
The BNA/ACCA Compliance Manual: Prevention of Corporate Liability manual is one of the most important publications available regarding corporate liability; it includes policies, forms, memoranda, guidelines, and other compliance materials actually used by leading corporations, with expert commentary added by the manual authors. Among the many major companies contributing compliance materials are BankAmerica Corp., Borden, Inc., Ford Motor Company, General Dynamics Corp., International Business Machines Corp., Martin Marietta Corp., Texas Instruments, Inc., and Westinghouse Electric Corp.
The unique perspective of the in-house bar, the attorneys responsible for corporate compliance policies, provides a practical, hands-on approach to developing and implementing programs that work. In order to fully address this issue, ACCA has joined with BNA, the largest private publisher of specialized information services in Washington.
The BNA/ACCA Compliance Manual: Prevention of Corporate Liability information service consists of a one-binder reference manual, updated bimonthly, and a monthly newsletter. The 882-page reference manual first provides comprehensive analysis of the elements of an effective compliance program, then elaborates on compliance needs in specific subject areas.
BNA is a leading publisher of print and electronic news and information services, reporting on developments in business, labor relations, law, economics, taxation, environmental protection and safety, health care and other public policy and regulatory issues. ACCA is the only national bar association composed solely of attorneys who practice in the law departments of corporations and other private-sector organizations. Since its founding in 1982, ACCA has grown to more than 8,800 members with 35 local chapters and 14 national committees that provide legal expertise on a wide range of topics.
