NEW APPLE MEDIA KIT FEATURES GIVE GREATER CONTROL TO DESIGNERS AND PROGRAMMERS IN THE MEDIA INTEGRATION PROCESS

 CUPERTINO, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Apple Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: AAPL) today announced Version 1.1 of the Apple Media Kit, a cross-platform media integration tool, which gives multimedia producers the ability to integrate state-of-the-art multimedia techniques into their projects. This new version significantly improves the feature set by enhancing designers' ability to assemble and add interactivity to media elements.
 "The Apple Media Kit is presently being used by a wide range of multimedia designers and programmers. Their projects range from edutainment titles to interactive networked kiosks," said Steve Sklepowich, product manager of Apple's Personal Interactive Electronics (PIE) Division. "In response to feedback from early users, we extended the capabilities of Version 1.0 of the Apple Media Kit by implementing the most frequently requested features."
 Feature Set Enhanced features of Version 1.1 of the Apple Media Kit include support for scrolling and styled text and the ability to scroll PICT images. Users now have easy access to the standard QuickTime movie controller for movie objects which allows users to play and stop movies on demand. In addition, dissolve effects have been added enabling users to fade from one image to another.
 Pricing and Availability
 The upgraded version of the software, expected to be released in February, will be sent free to all registered users of v1.0 of the Apple Media Kit. The Media Kit is currently available through APDA by calling 1-800-282-2732 or Apple at 1-800-371-0612.
