NEW AMERICAN CLASSIC TO BE LAUNCHED ON FOURTH OF JULY; THE TRIVIAL PURSUIT ALL-AMERICAN EDITION SPOTLIGHTS AMERICAN PRESIDENTS

BEVERLY, Mass, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- In a recent nationwide trivia search conducted for the newest edition of the TRIVIAL PURSUIT(R) game, the All-American Edition, Parker Brothers discovered just how popular "Clinton-trivia" has become in this country. The game company announced today that, after soliciting trivia questions and answers relating to America, U.S. Presidents was by far the most popular topic. Interestingly, President Bill Clinton took the lead over his predecessors, garnering twice as many question entries as any other president. On the presidential popularity scale, Clinton was followed by George Washington and John F. Kennedy.
The grassroots outreach for America's favorite trivia questions about America began last fall when Parker Brothers sent out a national "call for questions" in an effort to create the new TRIVIAL PURSUIT All- American Edition -- a game created "by the people, for the people." For the first time since the introduction of the TRIVIAL PURSUIT game in 1982, trivia lovers had the opportunity to share their favorite questions. The public's response to the solicitation resulted in a bombardment of over 5,000 questions to the mailroom of the Massachusetts-based game company.
The flood of questions also gave Parker Brothers insights into America's favorite personalities and topics. The majority of the questions, totaling some 12 percent of the 5,000 submissions, were related to U.S. presidents, followed by trivia relating to sports, entertainment, and arts and literature.
While it has been widely reported that the First Family are players of the TRIVIAL PURSUIT game, Alfred C. Carosi, Jr., senior vice president of marketing at Parker Brothers, believes that playing the All-American Edition will take on a whole new meaning for the Presidential family with such questions(a) as:
-- Who was christened William Jefferson Blythe IV?
 -- What was Clinton's mother's occupation?
-- What saying does Bill Clinton have on his desk in the Oval
 Office?
-- What former state governor won a beautiful baby contest in 1947?
The All-American Edition, which will be available the week of July Fourth, comes in both Master Games and Card Sets at suggested retail prices of $24.99 and $19.99.
