NEW (BLOOD) RECORD SET AT PUMPS.

VALENCIA - Another kind of record was set at the pumps over the weekend when a blood drive at a Valencia Shell gas station netted 45 pints, collected at a rate of some 6.4 pints per hour.

While regular unleaded was pumping for about $2.40 a gallon, blood donors lined up Saturday to give blood at the mobile Providence Holy Cross Blood Donor Center.

 marked a new record for drives held in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  and Orange counties mini bloodmobiles, a three-bed center often set up at gas stations.

The seven-hour drive was held at the Kelly Shell gas station, across the street from the new Providence New Providence, city, United States
New Providence, borough (1990 pop. 11,439), Union co., NE N.J.; settled c.1720, set off and inc. 1899. It is largely residential but has some light industry. Roses and fruit are grown there commercially.
 Holy Cross Health Center at McBean Parkway and Valencia Boulevard.

Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  City Council members were among the donors.
