NEVADA POWER CO. NAMES NEW VICE PRESIDENT

 LAS VEGAS, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Nevada Power Co. (NYSE: NVP) has named Bill Gehlen vice president, resource development. He will be responsible for resource planning, transmission planning, environmental affairs, land services, fuels planning and procurement, and resource procurement and administration.
 Gehlen joined Nevada Power in 1991 as manager of fuel planning and procurement. He was promoted to division manager of planning in 1992.
 Prior to joining Nevada Power, Gehlen was employed with Metropolitan Edison Co. in Reading, Pa., from 1978-1990. His responsibilities included fuel procurement, material management, and facilities management functions. Gehlen also worked with Teledyne Continental Motors in Muskegon, Mich., as a senior contracts administrator from 1976-1978, where he was responsible for negotiation and administration of engineering services, and research and development contracts.
 Gehlen earned his master of business administration at Western Michigan University. He received his bachelor of science degree from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich.
 Gehlen has been a resident of Las Vegas since 1991. He and his wife, Debbie, have three children.
