                NEVADA GOVERNOR TO RECOGNIZE AMWAY CORP.
                AT ANNUAL INDUSTRY APPRECIATION LUNCHEON
    ADA, Mich., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Amway Corp. will be among new industries in Nevada receiving special recognition at the Ninth Annual Governor's Industry Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 17.
    Amway Corp. plans to begin operations by Oct. 1 at its new 185,000- square-foot Catalog Distribution Center in Dayton, Nev.  The facility is expected to employ about 70 employees when in full operation by Oct. 30. The new facility was built to help fill a growing number of catalog orders currently processed at Amway's corporate headquarters in Ada.
    In a letter to Amway Corp.'s Ada headquarters, Nevada Gov. Bob Miller stated, "You and your business are tangible proof that our economic diversification efforts are working.  We wish to honor you at this special luncheon for your recent location in Nevada."
    The luncheon is scheduled for noon at John Ascuaga's Nugget, in Sparks.  Lloyd Scott, general manager of Amway's Nevada facility, will represent the company and receive the award from Gov. Miller.
    Independent Amway distributors nationwide market more than 5,000 brand-name items through Amway's PERSONAL SHOPPERS Catalog.  These products are marketed in addition to more than 400 Amway-brand home care, personal care, health and fitness, home tech, and commercial products.
    Projected sales of $3.9 billion for the fiscal year that ended Aug. 31, 1992, make Amway one of the world's largest direct selling companies.  Amway has 10,000 employees and more than 2 million independent distributors in more than 50 countries and territories. Amway is a privately owned company founded in 1959 and still operated by Jay Van Andel, chairman of the board, and Rich DeVos, president, and their families.
