NETWORK WORLD NAMED OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF GROUPWARE '92
FRAMINGHAM, Mass., March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Network World and The Conference Group today announced that Network World will serve as the official publication of GroupWare '92, the first commercial industry forum and exposition for groupware.
About 6,000 people are expected to attend GroupWare '92, scheduled for Aug. 3-5 in the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, Calif. In addition, more than 100 companies will exhibit solutions that focus on groupware, a new category of applications software that allows users of networked computers to increase their productivity through computer-mediated interactions.
In its role as the official publication of the conference, Network World, the industry's leading enterprise networking publication, will distribute a special supplement at the forum on groupware. The supplement initially will appear as a special advertising section in Network World's June 22 issue which will go to the publication's 150,100 subscribers and will also be distributed at PC Expo in New York City June 23-25.
This special section will include articles on the history and functionality of groupware and on its future including user stories, new groupware product announcements, a point-counterpoint piece on groupware, articles on the role of hardware in groupware and on multimedia and groupware, the GroupWare '92 conference agenda, and an industry roundtable and analysis. All articles will be written by industry experts.
"Being chosen as GroupWare '92's official publication further underscores our commitment to being our industry's leading publication," said Network World President and Publisher Colin Ungaro. "Network World took a leadership role as early as 1988 in recognizing groupware as a key technology of the future. Since then, we've written 85 articles on the topic and have created an Enterprise Applications section that focuses in part on groupware. We view groupware as an emerging technology that clearly illustrates the power of networking."
GroupWare '92 Conference Chairman David Coleman said, "Network World clearly sees the importance of groupware in delivering the promise of network computing. We're thrilled to have a publication of this stature as part of the GroupWare '92 team."
Lotus Development Corp. and SRI International, a leading research institute, will co-sponsor GroupWare '92, and Lotus' President and CEO Jim Manzi will deliver the keynote address.
