 NETWORK SYSTEMS NAMES NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
 MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Network Systems Corporation


(NASDAQ-NMS: NSCO) today named Michael Ashby as its new vice president, finance. He will assume the additional responsibilities of chief financial officer on Oct. 1.
 Richard Fisher, Network Systems' current vice president, finance, and chief financial officer, has announced his intention to retire on Dec. 31 of this year. He will continue to serve as a vice president until his retirement, assisting with transition matters.
 Ashby comes to Network Systems from Teradata Corporation in Los Angeles, where he was chief financial officer. Previously, he held key financial positions with General Electric Company and Adidas in France, Germany, and the United States. He is a native of the United Kingdom.
 Michael Fitzpatrick, president and chief executive officer of Network Systems, said that, "Michael Ashby brings a strong background in international financial planning, analysis, and control, treasury, and investor relations that are extremely important to our business plans and growth objectives. He is an important addition to the management team we are building."
